Citroën Bets on Compact EVs, Micro-Mobility and Formula E to Reignite Growth in Europe

SHERIDAN, WYOMING - December 18, 2025 - Citroën is using the 2026 Brussels Motor Show as a strategic showcase for its renewed electric portfolio and brand positioning, placing compact EV innovation, comfort-led SUVs and electric motorsport on the radar of European dealers, fleet buyers and mobility partners.

Brussels stand becomes a live lab for Citroën's electrification strategy

At the show, which opens to the public on 9 January 2026, Citroën is building a stand that mirrors its current transformation: colourful, modern and highly focused on accessible, electrified mobility. Alongside the world premiere of the ELO concept, visitors will see the new C5 Aircross as the brand's flagship SUV, the Ami in its new Dark Side edition, and a Formula E single-seater that signals Citroën's next era in electric motorsport.

For B2B stakeholders, the line-up illustrates how Citroën is repositioning its range around:

  • Fully electric urban and micro-mobility solutions
  • Electrified C-SUVs with long-range usability and comfort
  • A stronger link between racing technology and road-going EVs

The press conference on 9 January at 9:40 a.m. will be led by CEO Xavier Chardon and Head of Design Pierre Leclercq, underlining the strategic weight of the Brussels presence.

ELO concept: compact electric platform for multi-use urban mobility

ELO is being presented as a rolling ideas laboratory and a clear signal of Citroën's thinking for its next-generation compact EVs. At 4.10 metres, the 100% electric concept is designed as "the little car that thinks big," maximising interior volume and modularity rather than headline performance figures.

The architecture supports up to six occupants and can be reconfigured as:

  • A four-seat layout with a central driving position and panoramic 180° windscreen
  • A six-seat configuration using deployable additional seats
  • A lounge-style space for teleworking, relaxation or home-cinema style media use
  • A sleeping space for two, enabled by flexible seating geometries

Developed with partners such as Goodyear and Decathlon, ELO uses durable, practical materials and is intended as a multi-purpose platform for car-sharing schemes, subscription models and new urban mobility services as much as for private ownership.

New C5 Aircross: comfort-led C-SUV with wide electrified powertrain mix

Citroën's new C5 Aircross, a finalist in the Car of the Year election, anchors the stand as the core C-segment SUV for families, fleets and professional users. The latest generation introduces a more aerodynamic, muscular exterior and a modernised cockpit with:

  • Progressive hydraulic cushion suspension for long-distance comfort
  • Advanced Comfort seats and generous rear passenger room
  • A large Cascade touchscreen for improved ergonomics
  • The latest driver-assistance technologies, including Matrix LED headlights and Drive Assist 2.0

The powertrain strategy is explicitly multi-energy but firmly electrified. Customers will be able to choose between:

  • Hybrid versions with ranges of up to around 950 km
  • Plug-in hybrids with more than 100 km electric range in urban conditions and up to nearly 1,100 km combined
  • An affordable full-electric variant targeting up to 520 km range

For corporate fleets, leasing providers and dealer networks, this breadth of choice enables tailored TCO planning while still meeting CO₂ and low-emission zone requirements.

Ami Dark Side: extending the business case for electric micro-mobility

Five years after launch, the Ami remains one of Europe's most recognisable micro-EVs, with nearly 85,000 users to date. In Brussels, Citroën is broadening its appeal with the Ami Dark Side edition, finished in a deep matte Black Night with contrasting white graphics.

Still accessible from age 14 in certain markets and strictly 100% electric, Ami Dark Side offers:

  • A low-cost entry point into urban electric mobility
  • A strong visual identity suitable for branded fleets and last-mile services
  • An easy-to-manage asset for subscription, sharing and campus mobility operators

For B2B decision-makers, the Dark Side edition underlines the potential to use Ami as a flexible, design-forward platform for local mobility solutions.

Formula E platform links brand, technology and next-gen EV customers

Citroën is using its debut in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to connect its electric roadmap with a younger, digitally native audience. The single-seater on display in Brussels, carrying a tricolour livery, celebrates a podium finish at the first e-Prix of the season in São Paulo and showcases the brand's commitment to high-performance electrified drivetrains.

For engineering teams and strategic partners, Formula E provides a real-world testbed for energy management, software, power electronics and lightweighting - all elements that will increasingly influence the road-car portfolio and its competitiveness in the European EV market.

As Citroën's Brussels Motor Show programme unfolds, the stand is set to operate as both a public showroom and a strategic meeting point for retailers, mobility providers and technology partners focused on accessible electrified mobility.
